CONDITION: Excellent, without defects of any kind. This porcelain demitasse cup and saucer was produced in Germany by the Helena Wolfsohn Dresden studio in the 1880s. The saucer has a diameter of 5 inches. The cup is 2 1/2 inches tall with a diameter of 2 1/4 inches. This set has particularly special qualities. The shape of the cup is rounded and pinched in the center to square it. The handle is in the shape of a branch. Then there is the very fine decoration. Vignettes of lovers are on both sides of the cup and two sides of the saucer. They are beautifully hand painted with fine detail. Alternating sides of the cup and the saucer have colorful sprays of flowers. The borders are light blue with a kind of fish scale variation. The borders are outlined with delicate hand gilding. The handle and rims are trimmed with delicate gilding.
This is one of the sweetest confections of porcelain from Victorian times. The Post Office requires this.
